MIX BUDDY is a dedicated desktop mixer for instruments, synths, drum machines and microphones, built around Toshiba 2SK JFET input stages and Heritage Audio’s classic transformer-balanced output philosophy.
The Hi Gain section offers four stereo pairs with 12 dB of JFET gain, ideal for passive basses, vintage keys, low-level instruments and sources that benefit from extra weight and character. Push them harder and the circuit adds smooth, musical saturation without losing clarity.
The Unity section provides three stereo pairs of JFET buffered inputs for louder sources such as drum machines, samplers, active basses and modern synths, keeping the signal clean, fast and open.
A dedicated JFET microphone preamp adds up to 70 dB of gain, phantom power and its own gain and level controls. It can also be routed through the AUX loop, making it easy to process vocals or microphones through external effects and pedals.
MIX BUDDY also includes a balanced stereo line input for interfaces, computers or daisy-chaining multiple units, plus a balanced stereo FX return that can double as an additional stereo input. When only the left return is connected, the signal is automatically placed in the centre.
Two independent balanced master outputs make the unit highly flexible. Main Out passes through Heritage Audio’s 73 DI-style Class A output stage with custom-wound transformers, adding real analogue weight and allowing line or mic level operation. Main Out 2 is transformerless, clean and direct. A powerful front-panel headphone amplifier with its own level control provides an additional monitoring path.
